Error Messages Guide

If you've seen an image like the one below when trying to use the GameCounter or GameClock service provided by VGWS, you're probably wondering what it means. It's an error message intended to serve two major functions. It takes the place of a nasty broken image graphic and can help you identify the exact problem you are experiencing. The "E" stands for "Error," while the number identifies which error is occurring.

An example error image

Error 1 - Username or ID Number Not Supplied

A username or ID number was not sent to the service that is being referenced. If appearing in a counter or clock, this means that neither the username nor the ID number appears in the image tag. To correct this, you should use the appropriate Code Generator for the service in question. If the error persists, contact the site administrator with the following information: your username, a mention of the error, and which service you were trying to use.

Error 2 - Style or Font Not Supplied

The font (or style; it's the same thing) was not sent to the service that is being referenced. This means that the font is not specified in the image tag. Generate new code, making sure the font/style is supplied to the Code Generator. If the error persists, contact the site administrator with the following information: the font/style you chose, a mention of the error, and what service you were trying to use.

Error 3 - Could Not Connect to Database

The script being referenced was unable to connect to the database for some reason. This is likely an error that will disappear after a period of time. If it persists, please inform the site administrator.

Error 5 - Bad Reloading Blocking Input

The "&block=x" portion of the code being used has a number other than one (1) or zero (0) in the place of the x. This is not valid; only a 1 or a 0 may be used.

Error 6 - Blocking Statement Not Supplied

The "block" variable was not sent to the script being referenced. Look at the code that is generating the error and see if it contains the text "&block=x", where x is either a zero or a one. If it does not, generate new code and check it. If the new code has that text, try using it. If it does not, contact the site administrator with the following information: a mention of the error and what service you were trying to use.

Error 7 - Could Not Find User in Database

The username or user id being sent to the script could not be found in the database. This means either the account is not registered or the GameCounter has not yet been activated through the Member's Area. The latter case obviously applies to the GameCounter service only.

Error 9 - Banned User

The account being used for the service has been banned for a past or present rule violation.

Error 10 - Bad Daylight Savings Time Input

The "&dst=x" portion of the code being used has a number other than one (1) or zero (0) in the place of the x. This is not valid; only a 1 or a 0 may be used.

Error 11 - No Colon (GameClock Only)

The font style specified for use in the clock does not have a colon image. Without a colon image, the clock will not be displayed. Choose another font style.

Error 12 - Hour Scheme not set (GameClock Only)

The "hour" variable was not sent to the script being referenced. Look at the code that is generating the error and see if it contains the text "&hour=x" where x is either 12 or 23. If it does not, generate new code and check it. If the new code has that text, try using it. If it does not, contact the site administrator with the following information: a mention of the error and what service you were trying to use.

Error 13 - Bad Hour Scheme (GameClock Only)

The "&hour=x" portion of the code being used has a number other than twelve (12) or twenty-three (23) in the place of the x. This is not valid; only a 12 or a 23 may be used.

Error 14 - Bad Time Zone Input (GameClock Only)

The "&zone=x" portion of the code being used is not a number. Any number, including negative numbers, may be used in the place of the x.
