While the services provided by VGWS are free for generally anyone to use, there are some rules. In order to help keep things fair for everyone and to keep VGWS online and operational, all users of the site are expected to read these before signing up for membership or downloading an archived file. Signing up for membership and/or downloading an archived file are considered to be an agreement to these rules and terms of service.
- ARCHIVED FILES
- VGWS provides downloads of several types of files in .ZIP format and
other formats. By downloading any of these files, you agree that neither
VGWS, any VGWS staff member, nor other person associated to VGWS is
responsible or will be held responsible for any damage, trouble, or
problems caused by your possession or use of any archived files offered
on the VGWS site.
- Rules in the following sections are intended to cover other services
provided by VGWS, and do not apply to archived files offered for
download unless otherwise stated.
- SERVICES MEMBERSHIP PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS
- It is NOT a requirement that sites which will or do use services
provided by VGWS on be related to video games in any fashion. Any site
that meets the other rules laid out here may use services provided by
VGWS, unless an exception is made for a specific site, especially in the
form of a membership revocation or banning.
- Sites which will or do use services provided by VGWS may not contain a
large amount of objectionable language. Some objectionable language may
be tolerated in an effort to allow free speech. VGWS Staff reserves the
right to temporarily or permanently revoke the membership for any site
and/or user if the related site is deemed to have a large amount of
objectionable language.
- Sites which will or do use services provided by VGWS may not contain any
objectionable material of another kind (including, but not limited to,
adult material, hate material, racist material, etc.) anywhere on the
site. Sites may also not contain links to other sites with such
material. In select cases, such as fan fiction, a LIMITED amount of such
material may be tolerated, at the discretion of VGWS Staff. VGWS Staff
recognizes that certain areas of web sites are open forums for
discussion. This rule does not apply to such areas of web sites unless
the purpose of those areas includes providing an open forum for
objectionable material that otherwise violates this rule.
- Warez sites may not use services provided by VGWS. Any emulation site is
permitted and welcome to use services provided by VGWS, if the emulation
site does not have a "warez-like" attitude or design. The factors that
constitute a "warez-like" attitude or design are at the discretion of
VGWS Staff and may include strange typing such as "sTraNGe TyPiNg."
- By registering as a member of, using any service provided by, or viewing
any service provided by VGWS you agree that you will not hold VGWS, the VGWS staff, any party otherwise associated with VGWS, or any party
relating to any game or character represented on the VGWS site
responsible for any problems, damage or other trouble encountered as a
result of using or viewing VGWS or it's services.
- As a user you agree to any information you enter in the inital
registration form or a profile updating form being stored in a database.
While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without
your consent, VGWS Staff cannot be held responsible for any hacking
attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
- VGWS allows members to enter a website address, website name, and
website description (collectively called "website information") in their
profile and registration information for the purpose of displaying the
website information as a link on the "User Links" section of the Links
page and the "Random Link" section of the main page. The content of the
website address, website name, and website description may not contain
any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening,
sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any
applicable laws. This includes requests for ROMs that are not public
domain. Furthermore, each user may only enter one set of website
information per account. If members have multiple accounts, they
may enter multiple sets of website information, but only one set per
website. Violations of these rules may result in all websites added by
the member being removed and/or the member's accounts being terminated.
- FORBIDDEN ACTIVITIES
- Members are not allowed to use usernames or accounts that they have not
registered. Attempting to access accounts not registered by one's self
may result in being banned from the VGWS site and services.
- Only one account may be registered per email address. Users may register
for more than one account, but must use a separate email address for
each registration.
- Do not attempt to gain other passwords for other users' accounts. Do not
give out the password for an account to anyone, including VGWS Staff.
- VGWS resources, or content extracted from VGWS resources, may not be
placed on another site. This includes archived files (excepting those that did not originate a VGWS, such as emulators, frontends, and editors).
- NOTICES
- Violating any of these rules may lead to you being immediately and
permanently banned from the site and your service provider being
informed. Banning may also effect your ability to use or access services
provided by VGWS.
- Privileges of any user, username, or account may be suspended or
terminated by VGWS staff at any time, for any reason, without
notification of any sort.
- There is no guarantee of availability of any service, either expressed
or implied. VGWS staff members do not operate or control the servers the
VGWS site and services are hosted on.
- VGWS Staff reserves the right to add to or change these Rules for Usage
at any time, without notification.
- VGWS Staff reserves the right to change, discontinue any part of, or
make additions to any VGWS service in any form or method at any time of
the VGWS Staff's choosing.
